Biography

Dusan (Zivorad) Dzamic was born on July 28, 1990 in Krusevac. He finished the "Nikolaj Velimirovic" primary school and the "Sveti Trifun" high school in Aleksandrovac with honors. He enrolled in the Faculty of Mathematics in Belgrade in 2009. He graduated in June 2013 in the field of Mathematics (Computer Science and Informatics module).

He completed his Master's academic studies in the same study program in 2014 by defending his Master's thesis entitled "Solving Job Scheduling Problems in Multistage Production Using Hybrid Metaheuristic Algorithms". He completed his doctoral studies at the Faculty of Mathematics, University of Belgrade in 2021. He defended his doctoral dissertation entitled "New Clustering Methods on Complex Networks" on June 3, 2021.

He was awarded by the Mathematical Institute of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA) for the best defended doctoral dissertation in the field of computer science in 2021. Since 2013, he has been employed at the Faculty of Organizational Sciences, University of Belgrade as a teaching assistant, since 2015 as a teaching assistant, and since 2021 as an assistant professor, for the narrower scientific field of Mathematical Methods in Management and Informatics.

Research Experience and Projects

Mathematical Models and Optimization Methods for Large-Scale Systems
Project No. 174010 of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia was focused on the development of mathematical models and optimization methods for solving complex problems in large-scale real-world systems. Special attention was given to the application of heuristic and metaheuristic approaches, such as Variable Neighborhood Search and Genetic Algorithms, in the fields of industry, telecommunications, transportation, medicine, education, and the public sector.

eVežbaonica – Educational Platform for Final Exam Preparation
The project of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development and the Institute for Education Quality and Evaluation was focused on the development of a free and publicly available educational platform for preparing students for the final exam at the end of primary education. The platform enables students to practice and assess their knowledge in seven subjects, with tasks organized by topics and difficulty levels, including content in Serbian and national minority languages.

Prijemni ispit – Entrance Exam Preparation Platform
The project of the Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Telecommunications of the Republic of Serbia and the Mathematical Society of Serbia was focused on the development of an educational platform for preparing secondary school students for entrance exams in mathematics and Serbian language. Special attention was given to supporting students with disabilities and students included in inclusive education through adapted tasks and the use of modern ICT tools.

Završni ispit – Platform for Equal Inclusion of Students in the Educational Process
The project of the Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Telecommunications of the Republic of Serbia and the Mathematical Society of Serbia was focused on the development of an educational platform for preparing primary school students for the final exam in mathematics and Serbian language. The platform enabled students to practice tasks by topics and levels, take mock exams, and improve their knowledge, with specially adapted content for students included in inclusive education.

eZbirka – Platform Supporting the Efficiency of Teaching
The project of the Ministry of Foreign and Internal Trade and Telecommunications of the Republic of Serbia and the Mathematical Society of Serbia was focused on the development of an electronic collection of mathematics tasks for upper grades of primary school. The platform enabled teachers to search, create, and assign tasks, as well as to monitor students’ work and progress, thereby supporting the planning and improvement of teaching activities.

INFORMS OR & Analytics Student Team Competition
One of the mentors of the student team of the Faculty of Organizational Sciences that won fourth place in the finals of the global “INFORMS OR & Analytics Student Team Competition” and was the highest-ranked team from Europe. The results obtained within the competition were published in the prominent international journal The Engineering Economist.

INFORMS OR & Analytics Student Team Competition
One of the mentors of the student team of the Faculty of Organizational Sciences that qualified for the finals of the global “INFORMS OR & Analytics Student Team Competition” and won fourth place. The competition problem focused on optimizing a vehicle delivery logistics network and incorporating autonomous vehicles.
